Step 1 of 6
As you are aware, it takes a lot of financial resources to produce an award winning band and color guard program! San Marcos Unified School District and San Marcos High School provide funds to run the SMHS music program. In recent years this budget has been augmented by The California Arts and Music in Schools (AMS) initiative that was approved by voters under Prop 28 . At SMHS, those allocated funds cover two music instructors, space to hold classes, concerts and practices, in-class tutoring, in-state transportation, some instrument repairs, and some uniforms. The Music Boosters organization is a non-profit organization managed by volunteer band parents that works with the band and color guard instructors to bridge the gaps between the funding allocated by the school and the actual cost of running the band and color guard programs at SMHS. For the school year 2025-26, the projected budget gap is $145,000 - $160,000. These funds cover competition and judging fees, choreography and performance coaches, show music, design and props, musical coaching outside of regular school hours, color guard costumes and equipment, insurance, and supplies used at practices and performances. If we divide the gap amount by the 200+ students enrolled in marching band, we would need $725 from each student family. This is comparable to the participation cost for a travel sports team. Through fundraising and generous corporate donations, the Music Booster organization is able to reduce this amount by $225 so that the family contribution is only $500 for the 2025-26 season. Our goal for this year is to have 100% participation by all band members in contributing towards our funding goal. If you are unable to pay the $500 amount at this time, we have many other ways you can contribute to our fundraising goal. One-time payment: -$725 full funding contribution -$500 requested family contribution -$300 partial family contribution Recurring monthly automatic payment: -$42 per month for 12 months Other amount - If none of the above options work for you at this time, please consider donating a smaller amount that works with your budget. We are very grateful for your generous support!
